Self-responsibility

Perth Hypnotherapist self responsibility surger

Hello from Perth Hypnotherapist & Mental Fitness Coaching.

The foundation of our work here is that we are creation. We are creating our lives with our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.

We are creating our reality whether we are aware of it or not. Not consciously, as many of our beliefs have been created from our past, our childhood, mostly from before we were 7 years old. We are all powerful creators!

It is very difficult to look life in the face and many of us will be ready to seek the truth only once we have concluded that the cost of not doing so is too high. True healing simply means opening ourselves to the truth of our lives, past and present, as plainly and objectively as we can. This involves knowing where we were wounded ad, as we are able, performing an audit of the impacts of those injuries as they have touched both our own lives and those of our loved ones.

If you have created something you don't like in your life you can choose to feel like a victim of that circumstance outside of your control or you can choose to take responsibility for it and can change it. First, putting the past behind us as out of our control and forgiving it all. Forgiveness is a whole subject that I will write about another time. For now, think about forgiveness as not something that you do for others, but something that you do for yourself, to set yourself free.

The definition of responsibility is being able to respond, to control, or manage any situation. Self-responsibility is taking charge of your life no matter what the circumstances, for you, empowering you, to take back control of your life.

Many of us never truly learn this precious truth that in taking self-responsibility you can take control. When we blame everything and everyone else for our own problems, which is pretty much what everyone does daily, we make excuses and we get stuck in the situation. How many times have we blamed others, not looking at the whole conflict situation to rationalize the problem and in doing so, not correcting certain habits we see in ourselves? Each of us is born with free will. Mostly in our early years, we did not have the ability to make major choices in life, but as adults, not only do we have the ability, but we also have a choice in where we put our focus and where we lay the responsibility. This includes making choices about the core values we grew to trust from our childhood days, the very same ones we can choose to reject and replace with values that sit well with us and that honour our heart's desires. Each one of us is responsible for ourselves—no one else.

Since taking radical self-responsibility for my life I have felt a freedom like never before. In a situation where someone acted disrespectfully to me, or where a situation does not turn out like I would have liked it to turn out, or when something I don't want to happen, happens - I ask myself, what would someone have to believe to create this situation? And in asking that question and listening to the response from my internal space I usually get a limiting belief like I am unworthy or feeling not good enough and then I have the power to change that on the inside by creating a new belief.

Another great coping strategy to turn your thinking around along with changing a limiting belief, is to think about what you have to be grateful for. I guarantee you that if you start making a gratitude list, you’ll soon realize that you have more to be grateful for than not. If necessary, you can be grateful for your bed, your home vision, your four limbs, having three meals a day, a job, living in a safe neighbourhood, etc. I suspect that you can come up with an extensive gratitude list of other people and things for which to be grateful. Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all solution as everyone is uniquely different.

The point is to take control of your thoughts. If you take control of your thoughts, you can take control of your life. If you take responsibility for both the positive and negative, then you have self-control and self-responsibility.
