Way back in my teenage years, after I left home, I remember reading this brilliant book, Be Here Now, by Ram Dass, It was one of the first books that I ever bought. It was a new beginning. At the time, I thought it was the coolest notion, and I lived my life like Ram Dass guided, in the now: the present moment was the most important moment I had and I relished each moment. I travelled wildly, I turned 17, in Kathmandu, a beautiful city at the foot of Mount Everest. I arrived in Nepal after a dazzling, six months of meandering through Indonesia, Java and Thailand. I partied, I enjoyed my favourite bands, I followed music and festivals and I hung out with my favourite people. My now moments were really wow moments.
At first, I didn't notice anything changing, but over time, as I grew older, I started worrying: could pay this bill or that? I had fears bubble up from I didn't know where, and my now moments became a little duller, a little blurred into other moments, less exciting, and somehow thinner, flatter and diminished.
In my late twenties, I discovered Breathwork, Hypnotherapy and NLP. I jumped into these trainings in Melbourne, Australia. I began exploring and getting to know myself. I found that in my present moments were loads of fears, outdated beliefs and negative thoughts that had nothing to do with my present. I set out on a deep journey of knowing myself. I set up Perth Hypnotherapist and I helped others while continuing my self-knowledge exploration.
Decades later, I've done a lot of breathing. I have spring-cleaned my mind and body of old outdated feelings and decisions that were shaping my life experiences and I feel that I know myself well. The tools that I personally used and ended up doing extensive trainings, all over the world are Breathwork, Hypnotherapy, (yes you can hypnotise yourself!), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Mental Fitness, Positive Intelligence Coaching. I have discovered that I am the most interesting person on the planet! For me! And you are the most interesting person on the planet for you. You are the most interesting person to me as well: I love this work and I find people absolutely fascinating!
You are creation in action, you are choreographing your life experience whether you realise it or not.
For me, knowing myself means that I know my past wounding, my childhood fears and worries. Excitingly, I also know my creative talents and inspirations. I am connected to my soul's purpose and I am following my true calling. I am connected to my true sovereign adult higher self and my childhood has its place in the past, and in my creative, fun moments when I choose to call on her (my inner child) for inspiration. Knowing myself means I have found out what I truly love to do and ways to do those things more and more.
Knowing myself means to me that I have also found out things that I choose not to do and I don't do them. I know my 'no' and I know my 'yes" and knowing these things about myself means that I feel wholeness.
