Joy

Dancing your way to your joy

Find your joy.

Sometimes out of hard situations, good things come.

Six years ago, I was working in a clinic I loved, using Hypnotherapy and my NLP Coaching skills I was in joy, assisting clients to feel empowered losing weight, quitting smoking or other addictions, feeling more confident, or losing anxious feelings or traumatic memories.

I traveled overseas to study the latest cutting-edge Neuro-Linguistic Programming skills to find greater success for myself and my clients and increase our resilience. I had traveled overseas to New Zealand for the past five years to attend 18-day training there with transformations in Auckland. I bought my ticket and attended an event by the Business Foundations which was helping small businesses get more technology education and help their online presence.

I had a Joomla site and the teacher suggested that he could transfer the content of my site to a WordPress site which he said would make it more user-friendly and give me better control over the content. Instead of helping me, he took my site down and from that point on, I could not access my website.

I had to fly to NZ the next day and I was away for a month. At first, I thought that this was the greatest tragedy, my income plummeted, and clients could not find me online because I had no website. The teacher was fired from his position, I was not the only woman that he did this to - there were three others.

I used breathwork, hypnotherapy, and NLP coaching on myself. I asked myself what do I want? What do I love to do?

I decided to follow my joy! I put together a plan to do my Ph.D. by doing all of the things that bring me joy. I traveled to Bangalore India, and Queensland to further my studies in Social Justice Theatre, I applied for grants and bought colleagues to Perth to work with me. I attended Chorography training in Denmark, Perth, and Alice Springs. I started attending different dancing styles and somatic practice sessions.

Last year, I choreographed and danced in Creation, a performance that I made with other women who have experienced Family & Domestic Violence to move towards wholeness. I had a ball, I laughed and played and moved with others in creating meaningful ways and together we made art. This made me so joyful and I continue to run workshops that are meaningful and joyful.
